The school's facilities are excellent. Regular services are held in the school chapel at the senior school. The Music facilities are excellent with specialist rooms and brass, wind and string groups, orchestra, choir and individual instrumental lessons. Drama facilities include the 550 seat theatre and 400 seat amphitheatre. There is a dance studio, fitness studio and large sports hall. Sport plays a significant part in school life and the excellent facilities give children the opportunity to all find something they enjoy. The major games for the boys are rugby, hockey and cricket and for the girls hockey, netball, tennis and rounders. Children also participate in swimming, P.E., athletics and cross-country running. Lacrosse, golf, all types of dance, riding and shooting are also available as activities for boys and girls. The school has extensive sports pitches and facilities including a 25m indoor swimming pool, large gymnasium, squash courts, tennis courts, 2 astro-pitches and a covered play area. As well as sport clubs there are many other extra-curricular activities available. From Tap Dancing to Shooting, Golf to Watercolour Painting, Christian Union to Cookery, the sheer range of lunchtime and after-school clubs and activities means there's a new avenue to explore and something for every child to enjoy. About a quarter of the pupils at DCPS are boarders in our three, large boarding houses. |
