Kingfishers, the Nursery Department, is very much part of the Junior School, occupying self-contained buildings at the heart of the school campus. It is staffed by specialist Early Years teachers in six large, bright and well-resourced classrooms. The PrePrep has a hall for assemblies and gymnastics and a learning support room. Staff specialists are involved in the teaching of French, Music, P.E. and swimming. The Prep buildings house the Science laboratories, Art block, C D T workshop and IT workshop. Students have the chance to join the Junior Choir, Chapel Choir and school orchestras as well as wind, brass and string bands and ensembles. EFL lessons are available. Rugby, hockey and cricket represent the major school games for boys, with hockey, netball, tennis and rounders for the girls. Sporting facilities on offer are among the best in the country. They are centred around our modern sports hall, comprising a magnificent main hall offering indoor tennis, hockey, football, basketball, gymnastics, badminton, trampolining and 8 indoor cricket nets. As well as a 25m swimming pool, 6 squash courts, fitness area and table tennis tables. Outdoor facilities include Technotile tennis courts, 2 Astroturf pitches (one floodlit), cricket pitches, rugby fields, netball courts and athletics facilities. A number of teams in various age groups represent the school against other preparatory schools and also compete at local, county and national level in athletics, swimming, cross-country, squash, tennis, golf and skiing. An ambitious building programme currently taking place will see the addition of a major new facility for the arts within the school, in the form of the new Assembly Hall & Theatre. This will provide state of the art facilities for drama productions and music concerts, as well as acting as a wonderful gallery for the display of children's art work. After School Care is available. |
