Bedford Modern Junior School Choir wins First Place at Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama
Bedford Modern Junior School Year 3 and 4 Choir competed in Class 1 A at Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama on Saturday 03 March 2012 (for school choirs in Year 4 and below) and won.
In a class of six choirs, Bedford Modern School Junior Choir was awarded first place by adjudicator, Adrian Goss. He was delighted with the overall standard and awarded Bedford Modern Junior School first place 'by a significant margin' awarding a 'Distinction'.
Bedford Modern Junior School Choir was awarded the Emily Emery Challenge Cup and a cheque for £20. The pupils sang four songs including 'Skye Boat Song', 'Zulu Warrior', 'I don't want to live on the moon' and 'Zipadeedoodah'.
The children were praised in particular for beautiful pianissimo singing, lovely contrasts, catching the mood of each individual piece and great choreography. Overall the adjudicator described them as '"A well drilled choir - achieving so much'.
Hazel Farrow, Bedford Modern Junior School Music Co-ordinator said: "The children really rose to the challenge and represented Bedford Modern Junior School magnificently. It was a lovely occasion to be part of with a great range of songs and choirs to enjoy."
